There are 3 must-have color statements for the season . . . in addition to black, black, black.

Those Important Pales — pick and choose how full or faint you wish to make this range, but include lots in your assortments. As you saw in my Europe report, pale tints have now reached mass market and are no longer relegated to the contemporary or designer markets. Add them to other more colorful palettes or make a soft, feminine, and simple but beautiful statement of pales on their own. These light shades are a must to have next year.

Blood Red — yes, blood red, the strongest red of all. Saturated, full, rich, and sensuous. It stands on its own as a powerful holiday statement, but also yearns to be mixed with black for drama and boldness.

Burnished Jewels — the mainstream range for the season, always right, always colorful. Next year, however, make them deeper than last year and take off the bright edge. Also play them against dramatic neutrals and your elegant deeps.
