Fall 2014 Trend Inspiration

I recently attended the Impression, Fashion, and Modernity exhibit at the Art Institute in Chicago. It was the last stop of a magnificent presentation first in Paris, then at the MMA in NYC, where hopefully many of you saw it.

Having done my trend research for next year, I was immediately taken with the similarity of our times and the link between current fashion trend and the impressionist art era. This art was a movement into modern age where the paintings portrayed people in their everyday activities, places, and in a much more casual manner . . . softer impressions instead of precise details; relaxed attitudes, and informality v.s. formality . . . lightness, airiness, more personality, more enjoyment.

Likewise, we are taking a softer, more gentle approach to the Fall 2014 season . . . softer colors, softer shapes, abstract impressions, a comfortable ease with where we are in this modern world.
