SUMMER RETAIL 2013: NYC WOMEN’S

I covered NYC retail last week to check on summertime offerings (and yes, the weather was glorious). There were 3 trends that made an impact and will certainly effect my trend direction for next year, 2014.

1) THE FORWARD LOOK IN PRINTS . . . The prints cycle continues, and it’s all about the techniques and engineering. You can take any subject matter or motif, apply these “looks” and it will keep your print offering alive and well!

2) MILITARY/UTILITY. . . I’ve seen a lot of styling done at a contemporary designer level bringing back a fresh approach to military/utility. Now in stores it’s mostly in jackets with a lot of authentic looking camo, but always with a twist, and I love it!

3) ASIAN . . . Lots of it, growing with each season, and on all the forecaster’s radar for 2014 trend.
