For those of you who follow my blog and attend my webinars on home furnishings, here are some highlights from the Maison et Objet show held in January for Spring 2013. I did not attend, but in reading the reports from the trend services I’ve picked out what looks especially good to me. Click here to view a very good video about it.
And, stay tuned for my in-depth report on the show which I will cover in September and present a webinar in October with lots of great ideas and visuals.
Overall Theme of the Show was “Crazy” which spoke to the new free-spirited approach to design.
Greys and Black – Look more interesting to me than browns and the warm neutrals for spring.
Red – The brighter and bolder the better–all you really need is one piece!
Acid Yellow – Continues to be a major color player and going into a wider product range than ever before.
Rich Greens – Sexy and cool, a very easy color for the home
Sky Blues – A fresh range, a bit more blue than turq.
Light Pastels – The number one direction in apparel will also make impact in home.
New Forms and Shapes – Every home needs some of these.
Luxurious Fabrics – In all classifications of product.
Craftwork – An ongoing trend–a little goes a long way.
Prints – A huge statement in apparel and updating everyone’s lives . . . where once they were solid . . .
Blossoms Bursting – everywhere!
Geometrics – Add the balance and keep things looking modern.
