SPRING 2013 — Initial Thoughts on Fashion Trend Direction

I completed my 2nd round of trend research in NYC last month for new season ahead, and hold on, because it’s going to be a glorious season! What I love most is the energy — no more being laid back by the sea, a stroll on the boardwalk, or idle time in the country — the colors are clear, fresh and bold, we are not afraid to look to the future, and can also appreciate a past era where women dressed beautifully. We are ready to make our own fresh statement!

A wonderful quote from Christine Boland in Textile View Magazine helps us all understand how the dishing up of fashion trend has had to change over the recent years:

“Defining the ‘latest’ in terms of a definite trend seems increasingly obsolete. Thinking in seasons is becoming less meaningful. It is more about thinking in ingredients or spheres of influence.”

and so, I organized my trend presentation into 20 ingredients that can be mixed, matched, and developed into many new and unique stories. Pick and choose from the menu, but be inspired by these color, theme, style, and detail choices that are right for the new season!

PRINT AND PATTERN will be powerful however you choose to do it!
