WHAT I LIKED BEST IN PARIS . . .

Leather Jackets – Until now, “leather jacket” and “biker” were synonymous, very cool, very chic and very right. But going forward, the key is leather, and many more styles will be trend right for next year: the leather blazer, the leather military, the leather trench. Biker is still great and saw many Parisians on the street wearing the skinny jean or legging, with leather biker, with a scarf, with boots. It’s the perfect last layering piece for fall.

Sleeveless – Another great last layering piece for fall, the sleeveless cardigan or jacket goes way beyond the concept of a vest. “Vest” seems almost too uptight for the attitude of these new longer, woven or knit, pieces you throw on over a short sleeve T if it’s still warm, or a long sleeve turtle.

Utility Bags – A return to those good old serviceable bags we used to use before the backpack became so universal and so functional that we just had to move on. Now we love the classic styling again—think messenger, book, saddle, and brief case….lots of straps and always cross shoulder –I’ll take any opportunity to be hands-free! And just a note, as you know by now how hot I am on leather……I saw an overwhelming amount of real rugged leather handbags….a real focus on the hides and skins idea, from moderate to designer to junior.
