WHILE DOING TREND RESEARCH IN NYC part 2

Leather becomes a fabric look and color inspiration  for everyone!

Well, folks, I am not a fan of wearing leather. Yes, I know it looks chic and contemporary but buy a leather jacket? Never. Well, after doing research for next year, I think it’s a huge influence and source of inspiration. Here’s why:

I was shown the most beautiful and innovative swatches of leather and leather-like fabrics from the mills in Europe/Asia. Besides the different skin textures, the finishes were amazing, from lacquered to iridescent, to pebbly and crunchy metallics. Also saw one that was furry on the reverse. If this much innovation is going into this textile message, you know it’s going to be hot! Footwear and accessories…..what a field day to be had!

What I also loved was a color story on the Leather Brown shades…..rich and full from luggage tans, to reddened cordovans, to honeyed golds, and dry dark mink moleskin browns.

If you are in the neighborhood, I would love to see you at my Fall 2011 trend presentation at the Printsource New York Show: Monday, August 2 at 1:30 p.m. You’ll see more on leather and much more!
